Rethinking Manhattan's Waterfront
Plug in piers is a radical waterfront design that is flexible and diverse. It responds creatively to the various neighborhoods adjacent to the Hudson River and to the challenges posed by urban infrastructure at the water's edge. The idea of social condensing and reclaiming NYC's waterfront will not only reconnect New Yorkers back to the water but will also improve the quality of like for local residents, workers and visitors. This same strategy can then be injected back into the study area, re-activating and stitching NYC troubled areas with its immediate surroundings.
